Rox (known on Roblox as ROX Pictures) is a group dedicated to the research of media and television design created by Jonathanroxcp in 2009 on Roblox. Rox Pictures gained prominence in 2010 with The Jonathanroxcp Show, the first show with a studio of its kind on Roblox, and the Rox Pictures Network (RPN), which later became a Robloxian music television channel.
History[]
2009–2013: RoxMuvees and The Jonathanroxcp Show[]
The idea for a Roblox production company came after Jonathanroxcp entered the 2009 Roblox Trailer contest and won Top 100.[1] Jonathanroxcp released the first video with the name "RoxMuvees" on June 6, 2009 on his namesake YouTube channel titled "I tripped over a brick".[2] RoxMuvees produced short-form comedy clips until April 2010.
In 2010, RoxMuvees relaunched as Rox Pictures, after it officially opened The Jonathanroxcp Show. Branding for The Jonathanroxcp Show first unofficially appeared in the RoxMuvees clip "The Wand".[3] The Jonathanroxcp Show was the first studio of its kind as one of the most realistic television studios on Roblox, and played a big role within Rox Pictures.
The Jonathanroxcp Show helped launch ROX Pictures. Jonathan was the first Ellen-replica on ROBLOX.
The Rox Pictures Network (RPN) officially launched in 2011 when members of a growing "Robloxiwood" community requested to join Rox as partners with their own shows, even though RPN was originally intended to be a fictional television channel just for The Jonathanroxcp Show.
2013–2019: Rox Pictures Network[]
In February 2013, Rox Pictures began constructing a new Robloxian headquarters to replace its offices backstage at The Jonathanroxcp Show. Rox operations at the new headquarters began in April 2013 when a “Harlem Shake” video was taped and uploaded on Rox's YouTube channel.[4]
In May 2013, The Jonathanroxcp Show, which was Rox’s most popular show, ended production. However, its studio would continue to be updated and promoted as a game for the entire Roblox community.
In June 2013, Rox Pictures launched Roblox's first music channel when it switched RPN into a music channel format based on MuchMusic. RPN premiered Today's Top 5 in August 2013 as its first official show produced at the new Rox Pictures headquarters.

2019–present: Revitalization[]
In 2019, after temporarily leaving Roblox, Jonathanroxcp returned and began the process of restructuring Rox.
On August 5, 2019, Rox announced its news division Rox News, on Twitter.[5] Rox announced Today, a morning show style news show based off the NBC News program of the same name on September 12, 2019. Today debuted on January 7, 2020.[6]
Starting in 2020, Rox would begin to reposition itself to target a whole new demographic, by using Today, and actively posting development updates via Twitter on the revitalization of the Rox Headquarters complex.
Headquarters[]
The Rox Headquarters, also known as Rox Pictures Headquarters or its nickname as "the Rox building", is the original and main building for Rox operations, which opened in April 2013. It is designed to be one of the most innovative media facilities on Roblox. The current public version of Rox Headquarters houses studios and testbeds for RPN, SportsCentre and Rox’s other assets. The building is notable for its two street-side studios which have giant glass sliding partitions that open up to the street. The design of the building is based off the CTV / Bell Media building in Toronto, Canada, where Jonathanroxcp is from.

2019 updates[]
On February 10, 2019, Rox published an update at its headquarters indicating a new building for Rox News was being constructed.
On May 13, 2019, Rox announced its intention to revitalize the Rox headquarters, beginning in June.[7]
While Jonathanroxcp has yet to publish the updated map to replace the existing place, additional changes to Rox, as shown by Jonathanroxcp’s ongoing development tweets, seem to include new rooms and areas[8], the new Rox News building,[9] [10] a more-detailed outer facade[11] and upgraded interior[12] at Rox Headquarters, new City studio,[13] and a redesigned RSN building[14] housing an all-new SportsCentre studio.[15] The Rox News building made its first appearance on Today on January 7, 2020.[6]
